Misc. Quesrions on my new 87 Lesharo

Unread postby cpoolis » Mon May 17, 2010 3:10 pm

Already started working on my 87 Lesharo which needs a few monir things to be taken care off. Wondering if any one has a feed back on the following:

What is part number for the automatic transmission gasket
Engine is very dirty. Could I wash it or it is not a good idea on this type of engine.
Rear break lights and turn signals don't work.
Odometer has failed and does not show any speed when driving
If there a replacement bath tub for this RV as mine is in a very bad shape

Thanks in advance for your help and support.

Charles,

Welcome to this group.
Don't know the gasket part number.
Yes you can wash the engine. Caution on where the water goes, stay away from the electrical on the left and right of the engine as there are several relays and modules that won't like the water. Also when you have finished, open the 'dog house' cover, just under the dash between the drivers and passengers leg area. Take off the distributor cap, careful with the two screws as they do come all the way out, and check for any moisture, dry as needed.
Do the rear tail lights work? If so then your problem is with the adapter that takes the Renault 3 wire system and changes it to a 2 wire system. The module is located behind the left dash vent, on most.
Speedometer cable is broken. Does the cruise work? There are two cables, one from the transmission to the cruise pickup and the other from the pickup to the dash. The one to the dash broke on mine this year and I will be replacing it in the next couple of days.
Can't help you on the bath tub.
Do you have a service manual? The 87-89 is available here, viewtopic.php?f=13&t=458

Hope this helps you,
Rick

Rick

Thank you so much for the valuable information. Even though I was thinking about buying the gasket here local but may order it from Mobility RV anyway. My two young kids are very excited about the Lesharo. This style of RV is the only one which always liked!!!!

Best Regards
