transmission cooler line size

Unread postby glacier325 » Tue Apr 09, 2013 2:25 pm

Does anyone know the diameter of the transmission cooling lines, particularly the "out" line? I am anticipating installing an accutemp adapter and itis for 1/2" lines.

Hi Guys,

Look back, I believe Larry already advised the service port location....
maybe a month ago when this came up!

I'd be very cautious when it comes to cutting the high pressure transmission
lines.... they are attached with banjo fittings for a reason. If you do cut
in, please make sure you get barbed fittings, and really good quality, extra
wide clamps..... maybe like the fuel injection type.

Just my 2c.

They actually make a special clamp for that with a little metal arm on it for transmission lines.

Dave,

I did not look at the adaptor you were thinking of using.... that's actually
a pretty cool idea, no line cutting. I would wonder how responsive it will
be, as it is a big heat sink, and you may not see a very responsive gauge.
I'd want to know my transmission temperature fairly quickly if it was rising
into the 230 + temp range, this may mask the start of the rise.

Has anyone used anything like this?

Cheers, Scott

Scott, the info says it reads about 5 to 10 degrees cooler. They also say it's pretty quick. The testpnials are all positive, so once I know if I can get it to fit, I'll give it a try and let everyone know.

Sara, no matter what you need to know the condition of the belt before you venture out much.

It is reasonably correct to say that the coach interior and exterior are much like a Rialta but the VW engine and transmission and all the up front wiring are all very different. Availability of the Renault specific parts, as well as their cost, when available, is definitely an issue, as well as finding a mechanic even remotely familiar with the Renault systems- especially out in the boonies.
